背景には、こんな問いがありました。

「なぜ、せっかく日本を訪れた外国人観光客がポリエステルの着物を着ているのか？」

私たちは、本物の絹の着物をもっと多くの方に体験してほしいと考え、使われなくなった着物の再生に取り組んでいます。

Shirokuma Kimono is a product that breathes new life into kimonos and obi sashes that have been dormant throughout Japan, transforming them into "kimonos that even foreigners can wear in 5 minutes."

Behind this project was a question:

"Why are foreign tourists who have come all the way to Japan wearing polyester kimonos?"

We are working on revitalizing unused kimonos because we want more people to experience authentic silk kimonos.

【A New Form of Kimono】

The most distinctive feature of Shirokuma Kimono is that we have redesigned traditional kimonos into separate jackets and skirts.

This structure has made it possible to create kimonos that accommodate today's diverse lifestyles by being:

Each product comes with a serial tag that certifies its authenticity and allows for repair support if needed.

Your purchased item can be verified at any time through our official gallery archive.
Even as it is passed down over time, the serial tag ensures that it will always be recognized as an original piece by Shirokuma Kimono.※The serial tag is attached to all items except for Zori sandals.

このアイテムは、大正〜昭和期に仕立てられた一点物の正絹アンティーク着物をもとに制作されています。

上下セパレート型（ジャケット＋巻きスカート）に再構成しており、着付けの知識がなくても、ジャケットを羽織りスカートを巻くだけでどなたでも5分で着用が可能です。

使用している素材はすべてアンティークの着物地。
そのため、ごくわずかなシミや色むらが見られることがありますが、それも時代を超えて受け継がれてきた証としてお楽しみいただけます。

アンティーク素材を活用することで価格を抑えつつ、本格的な質感と一点物としての魅力を両立しました。

This item is made from a one-of-a-kind silk kimono,originally handcrafted in the Taisho to Showa periods.

It has been restructured into a two-piece outfit (jacket and wrap skirt),eliminating the need for traditional kimono dressing.
Simply put on the jacket and wrap the skirt — it takes just 5 minutes to wear, even for beginners.

As vintage kimono fabric is used, slight stains or color irregularities may be present.
These are cherished as marks of time and history.

By reusing antique materials, the price remains accessible,while preserving the uniqueness and texture of authentic silk kimono.

Putting on an obi is often considered one of the more difficult parts of wearing a kimono.
To ease that burden, we’ve adopted a one-touch design that allows for easy self-dressing.

The obi is designed to be thinner and lighter than traditional styles, ensuring comfort even while sitting.
It also features an adjustable attachment to accommodate a wide range of body types.

You can enjoy the refined beauty of antique obi —its unique weaves, dyes, and embroidery — in a simple, wearable form.

We repurpose leftover fabric from the kimono and obi production process into one-of-a-kind bags. Each piece highlights the unique charm of antique kimono textiles, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with a hint of Western style. Available in two styles: shoulder bags and ZIP bags, including clutch-type and laptop-compatible sizes.

廃棄されるはずだったアンティーク着物に新たな命を吹き込み、一点物のリメイク作品として蘇らせました。
セパレート着物として再利用できない着物を活用し、伝統の美しさを現代的な形で表現しています。
リメイクには、就労継続支援B型事業所の方々が糸抜き作業を丁寧に行い、その後は縫製を経て心を込めたアイテムとして完成させています。
納期を設けず、ゆっくりとしたペースで製作を進めているため、作れる数量は限られていますが、一つひとつに特別な価値が宿っています。

We give new life to antique kimono that were once destined to be discarded, reviving them as one-of-a-kind remade dresses.
These pieces are created from kimono fabrics that could not be reused as separate-style kimono, and reimagined in a modern form that preserves traditional beauty.

The remaking process involves careful thread removal carried out by members of a type-B continuous employment support center.
Each piece is then sewn and finished with care.
Without setting strict production deadlines, we create slowly and intentionally, which means quantities are limited — but every dress carries its own quiet value.

Each dress is made from antique silk kimono fabric and tailored into a modern one-piece silhouette.
As every piece is unique, the patterns, textures, and colors vary.
Designed to suit both everyday wear and special occasions, these dresses let you carry the story of craftsmanship and tradition with you.

These are zori (traditional Japanese sandals) specially crafted from original molds to match these kimonos.

While traditional Japanese zori are typically worn with the little toe and heel slightly exposed, this wearing style can be challenging for young people and foreigners unfamiliar with it.

Therefore, we've achieved stability with a square design that firmly supports the entire foot, and pursued comfortable wear by enhancing cushioning and incorporating a moderate height difference.

Furthermore, we offer sizes up to 13 inches to accommodate a wide range of foot sizes.

While we carefully select each kimono and obi, they may show signs of aging and slight stains characteristic of antique pieces.
